Description
Speech rate is a crucial suprasegmental speech feature, which is commonly used in the field of non-invasive analysis of Parkinson’s disease. Speech with impaired speech prosody results into unnaturally faster or slower speech, hesitation, pallilalia and other associated speech disorders majorly contributing to overall speech unnaturalness and unintelligibligibility. Visualization of speech segmented to phonemes and speech rate calculation provide fast and preliminary insight into speech fluency and prosody.
Software SRT provides nice graphical user interface that enables a user to load input *.wav file, compute speech rate and visualize segmentation into phonemes. The tool implements multiple modern and sophisticate segmental speech features and uses “kmeans” algorithmsň to estimate the boundaries between phonemes. The SRT software is written in the MATLAB programming environment. The testing script demo.m can be used to test functionality of the software.
